Pain pump and stuff

Well the pain pump is doing it's job and working well. He started out with a continuous dose of .8mg and a bolus of .6mg. That worked for awhile but he was still taking some pills and needed the fentora once in awhile. So our pain managment doctor increase his dose so now he is much more comfortable. He doesn't need to his the bolus button hardley at all. He doesn't seem to need any pills. He just takes Valuim when he gets anxious and needs to calm down a little. It's usually at night before bed. Sunday turned out not to be a good day. He woke up feeling ok, but decided to stay in bed and watch tv. Later that evening he started to throw up and seem to be runnin a fever. I didn't actually take his temp. just the old mom way of feeling his forehead. He had also thrown up on Saturday night too. The last good meal he has had was on Saturday for lunch he had spagehetti and chicken. He really has only eaten his pretzels and pepsi that he seems to be so addicted too. This morning he seems kinda out of sorts but is up and went to sit in the kitchen to play soduko in his book. He likes it cause it keeps his mind thinking. I made him scrambled eggs and he ate and kept them down. So over all he is doing better then yesterday but I really need to keep an eye on him. Hopefully he will pull out of this funk and enjoy this company that we are having over the next several weekends. I'm leaving work, this week is going to be my last week. Of course I didn't go in today cause I felt i needed to be home with him. This job has been good for me, but it was only temporary and part-time. Thank you Alicia, for this opportunitity. He is just becoming too much for Sam to handle in the afternoon, and she shouldn't have to. She is only 15 and Kyle isn't good with that stuff, he is good with helping him out of his chair and using his muscle. So it's best for all of us, that i'm home for awhile. So we will see what the rest of the week brings. I'll keep you all posted. Thank you so much for all your prayers and thoughts.

Pain Pump

On Tuesday we had a pain pump with a little bolus thinging. Kinda like you get in the hospital after surgery. It hooks into his mediport. That needle can stay in for about 7 days. The pain has slowly increasing and he has been taking more pain pills. Since he is on the pain pump he has not needed as many pills. He still takes some before bed and maybe one in the afternoon. He hasn't needed any fentynal since he has been hooked up. I think we used the Fentora tabs (fentynal) at least once a day. He would get these spasms that only a Fentora tab would take care of. These are neat little pills, they melt in your mouth. So that they get into your blood faster. He says he feels better and he does seem better on the pump. He was very nervous about getting the pump, about how it would effect him and stuff like that. Also thinking that the pump would be the end. But it turns out it's all good, he is still tired but maybe not as much because the pump is more controlled then before. It's a little nusience with carrying around a fanny pack. But he is getting used to it. I think he would have done anything to help get rid of the pain. I"m just releaved to see him more comfortable. Well if i'm repeating myself, it's cause i'm tired. Had a long day today. I hear my bed calling me and I hope to god ...there are no 8:30am deliveries tomorrow. Or you'll read murder in the paper!!!

Ohh Did I mention the last count on the cards was 78 cards!!!!! Wow...Thank you Thank you Thank you!!!

Back to the Blood Lab

Ted is scheduled once again for another transfusion. His blood counts were lower. Something like 6.8 / 22.3. It's always his choice if he wants to get them. He hates getting them but he gets to rest the whole time he is there. He will only do it at one hospital. The other hospital has chairs and it's very uncomfortable for him. So we go to the one that has beds. They have chairs but we would refuse that. So other than being tired and having the usual pain Ted is doing pretty good. The wrapping of the legs is helping the swelling. He is still having more swelling around his tail bone and back though. I think that makes him uncomfortable. The Hospital bed is working out great. It helps him get up and out of it. Cause it can lower and raise. Well that's about it. I'll update more when I can.

Party and Card Shower

Wow.....so amazing that you all are. We got tons of cards....I am guessing about 75 or so. I have to go through and count them again and take a picture of them all. I do have a picture of ted with the cards that we got on the morning of his birthday. At that count we had about 45. Wow...have you ever gotton so many cards for your birthday? It was amazing we got cards from all over the US from as far north as Maine and far west as CO. Family, extended family, friends, friends of friends, myspace friends. WOW.....Thank you Thank you!

Ted had a great time at his party and got to see some old co-workers, vendors and friends he hasn't seen since he stopped working last year. And his cousin brought him steak..which was the big joke when someone asked what he wanted or if they could bring anything. He always said steak! So she brought him some ribeye. He was happier then I don't know what. Here are a few pictures and I hope to take some pics of all the cards when I get a chance. Thank you again for all your support. It made such a difference.
