Cancer just sucks....

Well we went to see the Doctor on Friday. He came in with all Teds papers and showed us the trend. Pretty much what i've been saying on here anyhow. His counts where going down while on Chemo and while on just the erbitux and avastin they went down a little and then held some. Friday they were up about 4 points. 18.6. Ok so this could be a hicup in the test or it could be a trend. We had just the avastin and the erbitux treatment on Friday and in another two weeks we will do the same again. After that on Nov. 16 when we see the Doctor again we will see with the CEA levels are. If they are still going up the doctor is pushing for chemo again. He wants to keep those numbers down. He is talking about a really low dosage to keep the numbers in check. Actually keep the Cancer in check. So a low dosage and maybe every other treatment add in the chemo. Maybe the side effects won't be so bad and long lasting. The doctor is looking to keep him going for another treatment to come out with. Sometimes I wonder if he knows of something that is coming out but hasn't been approved yet. I hope so. That would be cool. Ted has been feeling pretty good. Just really tired. His blood counts are 36.5 too high for procrit and low enough to make him tired. He is starting his vitamins again. HE really can't take just iron though because of his colostomy. We don't want anything that is going to stuff him up. Well not much else to tell. I'll keep you updated.

Ps...if we visited anyone this summer and found a nintendo DS and games in an old brown cassette case. Please let me know. Kyle can't seem to find it and he thinks he left it somewhere on our trip in July to NY and NJ. PSss....Kyle got his Drivers Permit last week. Yeah....Haven't gone out driving yet. Soon.

Great Weekend

Well it started Friday with treatment. We cut the erbitux dose by 25%. Why did we do this do you ask? OK, well the dosage that ted gets of the erbitux is a high dose becuase normally the dosage is given every week instead of every other. So because we are having the treatment everyother. Ted was getting a really high dose (double). He was doing ok on it but it would wipe him out for a few days. Well we had this treatment on Friday and then he rested when he got home. Leo, Jodie and Johnny came down on Saturday and then we went to williamsburg. WE hung out on Saturday. Not doing much just resting. Leo only had a few hours sleep from driving all night long. On Sunday we weren't to Busch Gardens. I was worried. But we rented a motorized cart for Ted. He did great. It was hotter then haddies. 92 with humidity. He drank lots of water. He went on the Curse of Dark Castle. Was a little rough on his kidney but did ok. He also went on the log flume. I was surprised but he did good and we have pictures. Overall it was a great day and he did awesome. Today, Monday he had a rest day and pretty much slept all day. That is ok. It was much needed. We headed back from Williamsburg around 6:30pm. He is doing well and pain seems to be under control for now. He is hoping to have a good week this week. Well I'll keep you updated as much as possible. I will have pictures in a day or two from Busch Gardens on myspace. If you need the link to that website just email me.
Love to all, Karen

Doing well

I know it's been a while since I've posted. But remember, no news is good news. We are still doing treatment. Makes him tired, but it's better then the other stuff (cpt11). Other than that he doing well and hanging in there and living life. Pain is still an issue sometimes. Somedays it's all good none, other days..well no more need to be said. Have a great weekend. Karen
